FAQ

What people usually ask me

Before you book

How much does an IV drip cost in Lisbon? From €249 per session. Each drip’s price is in the list above and includes travel within the service area, all materials, the initial check-up and supervision for the whole session. Each add-on adds €50. Outside the included area and from 7pm on there is a surcharge, shown in the total before you send the request.

What is IV therapy? A drip of fluid given straight into a vein, with water and electrolytes and, depending on the drip, vitamins and minerals. Here it is given by a registered nurse at your hotel or home, after a health assessment. It does not replace seeing a doctor.

Who gives the drip? A nurse registered with the Portuguese Nursing Board. All equipment is sterile and single-use, and I stay with you from start to finish.

How long does it take? The infusion takes about an hour. Add 10 to 15 minutes for the initial check and preparation.

Which areas do you cover? Travel is included in Lisbon, Amadora, Oeiras, Carnaxide, Queluz, Cacém, Odivelas and Sacavém. Cascais, Estoril, Sintra, Loures and Almada carry a €50 travel fee. Further out I still come — I tell you the cost before we confirm. Just type the address in the form and the price appears right away.

Do you work in the evening? Yes, in the hours I have open. Sessions from 7pm on carry a surcharge, which shows in the total before you send the request.

How far ahead do I need to book? The times on the site are the ones I actually have free, and there is often a slot on the same day. If you need a time that is not listed, message me on WhatsApp — it usually works out.

Do you come to hotels? Yes, to your hotel or to your home. I just need somewhere you can sit or lie down comfortably for about an hour, with light and a bathroom nearby.

Can several people have it at once? Yes. Each person fills out and signs their own form, because the assessment is individual. From the third person on there is a discount. For companies, weddings, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and other events, send me the details and I will send you a quote.

Safety and health

Does this replace seeing a doctor? No. This is hydration and vitamin and mineral replenishment. It does not replace medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment. If you have a chronic condition, symptoms that will not go away, or take regular medication, speak to your doctor first.

Are there cases where you cannot do it? Yes, and more than people expect: kidney or heart disease, clotting disorders, allergy to a component, G6PD deficiency, active infection, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and, for drips with vitamin C, diabetes of any type. That is why the health form is required. If anything makes the session unsafe, I tell you beforehand and we do not go ahead — even if it is booked and paid.

I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I? Not until you have spoken to your doctor and they agree in writing. The safety of these drips in pregnancy is not established, and it is not worth the risk.

Do you treat anyone under 18? No. Adults only.

I take medication. Is that a problem? It depends which. Blood thinners and medication for the heart, blood pressure and diabetes are the ones that matter most here. Write everything on the form, supplements included — that is what I decide on.

Do I need blood tests first? No. None of the drips I give require blood tests beforehand. What I need is your health form filled out honestly and the assessment I do in front of you before we start.

How often can I have one? I ask for a minimum of 14 days between drips — that is why the form asks whether you have had one in the last two weeks. Repeating sooner can mean fluid overload and vitamin build-up. The ones with an anti-inflammatory are for occasional episodes: repeating them often damages the stomach and kidneys.

I had a drip a few days ago. Can I have another? If it was less than 14 days ago, generally no. Tell me on the form when it was and which one, and I will assess it and tell you when you can.

I have a cold or a fever. Can I still do it? Most of the time, yes. I carry a fever reducer and treat the fever on the spot, and fluids are often exactly what the body needs in that state. I assess you when I arrive — if I think what you have needs a doctor rather than a drip, I tell you and we reschedule at no cost.

Does it hurt? I am afraid of needles. The needle feels like a blood test. Once the cannula is in you do not feel it. If needles usually get to you, say so on the form: I have you lie down and take it slower, and it goes fine.

What if I have a reaction? That is exactly why I stay for the whole session. At the first sign I stop the infusion, assess, and follow the emergency protocol — I carry what is needed. If it comes to that, I call 112 (the European 911) and stay with you.

What I have and what I do not

Do you have NAD+, peptides or glutamine? No. In Portugal, NAD+, peptides and glutamine are not authorized by Infarmed (Portugal’s equivalent of the FDA) for intravenous administration.

Can I add something I bring myself? No. I never give anything brought from outside, however harmless it looks — I do not know the source, the dose, or how it reacts with the rest. If it really matters to you, talk to me and we look at doing it the proper way.

Can I choose what goes in my drip? You can choose from the drips on the list and add the available add-ons. Beyond that I do not improvise formulas: each drip has a set composition, and that is what makes it safe and predictable.

Why are all the add-ons the same price? Because what costs is the material, the preparation and the time, and that is the same for any of them.

Your session and after

What should I do beforehand? Eat something light and drink water. Coming on an empty stomach is the most common reason people feel nauseous or faint during the infusion. Wear something that leaves your arm accessible.

Do I need anything at home? Somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down, and a bathroom. Nothing else — I bring everything, including the IV pole.

Can I work or drive afterwards? Usually yes. If your drip contains magnesium or medication, feeling sleepy or heavy is normal — in that case do not drive straight after.

How do I pay? You choose at the end of the request: pay in full now, book with a deposit and pay the rest on the day of your session, or talk to me first and sort it out by phone. Whatever you pay now goes by bank transfer — I show you the IBAN and a reference at the end. On the day of your session I take cash or a bank transfer. I do not carry a card reader.

Do you give a receipt? And an invoice? A receipt always. If you need an invoice, VAT is added at the legal rate on top of the price shown — tell me when you book and I will confirm the final amount. If you have health insurance, keep the document: some policies contribute toward home nursing, but that depends on your policy and only your insurer can confirm it.

Can I cancel? More than 24 hours ahead, yes — we reschedule or I refund everything, at no cost. Less than 24 hours, or if you are not there at the agreed time, there is no refund: the materials are prepared and the slot is taken.

What happens to my data? The form holds confidential health data. It is used only to deliver the service safely, stored securely, and never shared with anyone. You can ask to see it or have it deleted at any time.
